Tragedy in Prescott

This blog has typically avoided current events, serving only as a sort of journal of our adventures; however, a tragedy of unspeakable proportions has occurred and must be acknowledged.  We are heartsick at the news of the loss of 19 of Prescott’s firefighters, the Hotshots, who were battling a wildfire in the Yarnell area.

We know some of them and many of their families, still awaiting the release of all the names of the fallen heroes, a moniker that is bandied about much too lightly, but which is truly earned by this elite group.  They were among those who saved homes in Prescott’s very recent Doce fire, but encountered out of control conditions this time.

Words cannot begin to express the sorrow.  I pray for comfort for their families.
